CricketGaming Team got a chance to test out Cricket Revolution, the upcoming online multiplayer cricket game by a Pakistani game development company Mindstorm Studios. Cricket Revolution was under development from last 2 years and finally it will be there on your PC. Though there are many cricket games for PC but there are less online multiplayer cricket games. So, Mindsotrom Studios thought of this new idea.
First Impression of this game was a really well designed menu graphics and user interface. Using Web 2.0 glossy bars, the menu is well designed. Another thing was the cinematic intro which will really make you excited.
Cricket Revolution provides in-depth statistical features along with skill points, experience and other attributes for each player and teams. You can even view your own detailed statistics in online mode.
Whenever you buy a cricket game you always check for batting shots and abilities. Cricket Revolution provides you 34 different realistic shots which you can play according to the skills of the player. All you need is good timing and some skills to go for big shots otherwise the ball may send you to Pavilion. Cricket Revolution is the first game to provide you most customizable shots. You can select the angle and you can also go for special shots like Slogs, Lofted or Push. Imagine the combination of these with the 34 realistic shots. However, if you’ll try to go for big shots if the batsman is not settled than it may be destructive for you. You need to stay on the crease for some time until you gain some confidence.
Coming to the bowling part, again there is magic. My first impression on bowling was the player animations. Just like the authentic batting animations, the bowling actions and animations are really very realistic. Forget that Robotic bowling action. Game offers you different types of deliveries which are also based on the bowler skills. You need to be smart while bowling because even if you’ll try to bowl those Yorkers on the leg side, the batsman will move behind and will hit easily. You have to introduce some variation in your bowling otherwise the batsman may be dangerous.
About the fielding, it’s automatic and based on fielding skills of the player. There are also diving catches for fielders and even wicketkeeper. The fielding is customized and you can set the fielder wherever you want but don’t put him out of the ground.
The control system is really simple. You can use mouse to view statistics but the batting and bowling is keyboard controlled. The keys are very simple and classic. Using your arrow keys, move the batsman and choose the shot. The combination is really simple.
The online mode is really very well designed and developed. The game automatically fetches the details from your CR account and provides you to view your records and your statistics. You can join any game or create your own. Arrange a tournament between your friends. The online gameplay is also very authentic like the gameplay in exhibition matches and tournaments.
In the end, it’s a really worth buying game if you are looking for good gameplay, varied shots and also the compatibility on PCs with low specifications. The game was running great on high setting on Intel 915/945G onboard graphic solution so you can imagine the performance in good graphics card. It’s really amazing to see an Indie game giving a tough competition to other old cricket game series. Though it is not a next gen game and doesn’t have high graphics and cutscenes but still it is a game worth buying.
